I’m a lily

A Poem About Sensitivity, Strength, and Pleasing God Over People

I’m a lily,
But I wish…
I wish I was…
A cactus.

Prickly. Stern.
Dare to poke me
you will feel my burn.

But Instead I’m
Delicate. Gentle.
Easily bruised…
So, so sensitive.

God,
I wish I could be mean
you know?
Develop a fearsome skin.
But much as I try
it feels so strange from within.

It isn’t—really—me.

You see I’ve spent years
trying to survive this world by
pleasing it.
Apologizing for my gentleness
as if being kind
was some kind of weakness.

But I’m awake now.
And I’m done trading
my sensitivity
for the silence of self-denial.

I was made to
reflect the heart of God.
Not the opinion of man.

I was made to
walk in truth.
Not to tiptoe.

I was made to
be discerning.
Not desperate.

Astute.
Not agreeable
to dysfunction.

And gentle?
Yes.
But wrapped in a strength
you can’t see on the surface.

Are you listening?

Because I finally am.
And what I hear…
is Love telling you and I:

“Stop shrinking
to fit their own plans.
Start rising
to reflect who I am.”

So no—
I am not a cactus.
I am becoming a lotus.
So now I bloom under Love’s light,
not their opinions.
I bend for Love’s will,
not whispers.

And I please. . .
I please only Him.

To all the personalities that are like lilies.
Just be yourself, one hundred percent.

A Trilogy Of Clouds

A Trilogy Of Clouds

This trilogy traces my soul’s movement from suffocating lies, through a quiet interruption of love, into the tender nearness where breath and truth are restored.

Billowing Clouds
Descent

A billowing cloud
begins to come in—
smoky, dark,
and rather
malevolent
in its forming.

It drifts in
without resistance.
It thickens.

The air grows heavy—
It’s harder to breathe.
Harder to remember
anything at all.

Unease settles.
I’m Queasy.

It moves in close—
just enough
to feel convincing.

It breathes:

What if rest
means
disappearing?

I am listening.

The cloud leans in—
patient,
persistent—
naming me
with things that twist:

Unwanted.
Less than.
Unclean.

It doesn’t scream,
but I feel it reverberating.

It settles on my chest,
pressing heavily,
until its mist begins to
bind up my peace.

And somewhere
beneath the weight
of all that haze—

I breathe in its
lies as truth.

He Called
(
Interruption)

This is what happened when the darkness almost convinced me to disappear.

Deeply hurt—filled with hopelessness,
I thought all was lost.
Dark echoes of raw hate
crept into my mind. . .
and desired to havemy end.

But then—a breath. Still. . .yet steady,
broke through the darkness, gently:

“Why would you want to end it all? Don’t you know I love you?”

He called.

He called,
But His love didn’t just call—It reached.
Reached for me beneath the waves—
Ready to pull me out of the ocean of hate.

His love aimed straight
to the center of my being—
not just the broken parts,
but the buried things,
the places I didn’t even know
were hurting.

So I reached back.
Hesitant.
Hope shaky.
And to my astonishment,
I didn’t find judgment.
I found… pierced hands.

Open.
Alive.
Waiting.

So I dared to trust him—
And that trust...
it unlocked something:
A love that dispels the darkness
like sunrise on the ocean.
A love that rebuilds the broken
with gentleness and truth.

And here,
right here in this moment,
if you’re listening,
if you’re reaching—
I hope His love finds you too.
and changes you—
like it changed me.
Forever.

Tender Clouds
Resolution

A hush.
A change.
A shift in the skies.

A brighter cloud
has fully arrived.

Its glow is warm.
It’s light, sincere.
A breath that reaches,
turning our ears.

“I love you,” He whispers.
“I love you… the most.”

No lies.
No hate.
He calls me His own.

He calls us beloved.
And blots out our shame.
He holds all our sorrows.
And takes all our pain.

His mercy—like rivers.
His grace—like the rain.
He quietly cleanses
what previously stained.

Where darkness once lingered—
where lies pressed in close—
His arms opened wide.
His heart made a way.

From darkness… to dawn.
From night… into day.
No longer condemned.
No longer alone.

So now—
we can stand.
Not broken.
But blessed.

Redeemed by the One
who gives us His rest.

His love is our anchor.
Our refuge.
Our boast.

I’ll echo His words—
“I love you…the most.”

If this poem found you in a dark place—know this: God’s love is reaching for you. Reach back for Him, you will most certainly be changed.
