Dear Person Who Looks Like Me

A poetic letter series speaking to identity, heritage, healing, and divine worth. These poems honor the beauty, complexity, and sacred design of those who carry legacy in their skin, their story, and their spirit.

Melanated

Melanated, consecrated, never accidental — a poem honoring the sacred inheritance carried in bronze skin.

Melanated
Elevated
Consecrated to
Never be underrated.

I walk in legacy—
         A deeper royalty
Crowned in His-tory
        Heaven in bronze skin.

Wordsmith
Truth-speak
Love anchored to
Never be dismissed.

You will see my melanin
         Wrapped in feminine
A gift, complex and living
       His love still speaking.

Gifted
Lifted
Firm-footed to
Never be shifted.

I make no apology
       For being a protégé
In grace, gently urging
       The world to savor Him.
